The styling was the appearance of several of the styling tips of new GM styling primary Bill Mitchell. The inside implemented a double cockpit much like earlier Corvettes, but updated for the Sting Ray. Beginning in 1963 the very first hard top car was presented, presenting the a two bit rear window style. The first version, the L36, expense just $200 more and included a single four barrel carbo, 10.25:1 compression and hydraulic lifters. It had been rated at a stout 390 bhp. Next up was the L68 for $305 which presented triple two-barrel Holley carbohydrates (a first for Corvette) and was good for 400 bhp. At the most truly effective was the L71 with three-way two-barrel Holley carbohydrates, strong athletes, special effectiveness cams, and 11:1 pressure which was conservatively rated at 435 bhp. Exceedingly uncommon (only 20 were built) was the most truly effective of the line L88 for $948 more. The L88 featured new aluminum heads, 12.5:1 retention, and a single Holley four barrel carbohydrate scored at 850 cfm that sat on an intake manifold with a particular increased plenum chamber. Furthermore, you got a transistor key and Positraction differential but did not get a supporter shroud, heater, nor defroster. Chevrolet was hesitant about revealing the engine's true potential and officially rated of them costing only 430 bhp, but most experts thought that it in reality produced near 600 bhp!
