A bill continues to languish in Congress that was made to handle many 1000s of asbestos related lawsuits, making many awaiting a just resolution as they continue to experience their painfull disease without payment.

Based on research released in September 2004 by the American Thoracic Society (ATS), asbestos is still a hazard for more than a million American workers in the construction industry and those associated with structures and equipment maintenance. The study also warns of new products that may contain asbestos,These products may include: roofing products, brake patches, and imported cement pipe and cement sheeting that might expose individuals to an elevated threat of asbestos related cancer.

While government scientists are reporting a new speed of asbestos related claims, which is expected to carry on over the next two decades, it was believed when the legislation was first introduced in 2000 that the vast majority of asbestos related cancer claims were over, and the legislation was designed to be careful of the thousands of remaining cases which were clogging up the courts.

However for many of the asbestos connected cancer subjects, the fact that the legislation remains organized has meant many patients have already been unable to obtain damages owed they're certainly eligible to before its toll is taken by death. The proposed legislation provides, to the victims of asbestos related illness, a "trust fund" to take care of the needs of the suffering from asbestos and other asbestos related diseases. This legislation would eliminate organizations from being prosecuted and unclog courts of countless amounts of new asbestos claims.
