They are known as white, blue and bown asbestos as this is the way they appear.

Asbestos was used for several years from the 1950's onwards, and due to its properties was used in the building of houses, offices, schools, hospitals and factories. It had been found in the UK right up until 2000. It is fireproof and a good insulator so it was used often as a building material.

Although safe when undamaged, damaged asbestos product is dangerous. This is because particles become airborne and will be breathed in. Inhalation of asbestos fibres may possibly show no symptoms for many years but sooner or later serious disorders of the lungs and several other organs can occur. The four most common disorders that can come from experience of airborne asbestos are mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and diffuse pleural thickening. Only the latter is not lethal and there are varying degrees of risk of fatality from the others.

This can be a retrospective obligation and thus anyone experiencing any of the diseases outlined above may need to make asbestos compensation claims. Making asbestos claims is something handled by way of a great many solicitors and since the risks of asbestos have now been known has improved in the years. The claimant does have to demonstrate that the disorder they have is a direct effect of experience of an asbestos product, resulting from employed by an employer. This is difficult as for most of these disorders there is a latency period of anything between 40 and 10 years.

Asbestos was an exceptionally effective product used in the building trade for a lot of years. It was economical and had many great qualities. Its effects on human organs were not known until the product was useful for quite a long time. As a result, many people have already been exposed to asbestos airborne particles.
