My Dad got me into fighting styles, back when I was a dozen, as a way to obtain me away from the gaming system and out doing some exercise. I am grateful for that, in a lot of ways. Fighting techinques has made me far more match, and providing me confidence and a lifetime career, actually. My Father kept on with it as well, and it's began to take a toll on him. Where we I did so sparring punches, and matches and shared locks, he is just gotten to the point where he is enough older that he doesn't appreciate being cast on the pad quickly.
I looked at Wing Chun movies for him, and he moved into that type. But, even that's starting to take a toll on him. His blood pressure medicines often make him dizzy, and he does not heal from bruises as fast as he used to (for that matter, I do not either. I marvel at the films dad shot of me when I was an adolescent. Oh, to really have the resilience I'd then using what I know now)
So, Dad and I are looking for something we can do together that's got martial arts software, but will not provide taken muscles, bruises, or drive us to spell out to my stepmom or my partner why the furniture has been re-arranged or broken. We settled on Individual Fan Tai Chi Chuan.
Tai Chi includes a quantity of divergent forms; they'd be named schools in other fighting styles. The four prominent people are Yang, Sun, Wu and Chen types, and their adherents have been all got by them. You've actually seen some of the Yang kind of Tai Chi, if you have ever seen Star Trek: Another Generation, where Worf does a Martial Art" in slow motion. The Wu form is small, short moves, sunlight form is about fast movement, and the Chen form is about intense movements, with Wu and Chen most significant for applying Tai Chi as a martial-art rather than as a form of exercise. team
Anyway, dad had a need to get some thing easier on his bones, so we did individual fan Tai Chi, that has been developed by Wang Ju Rong, and uses a fan as an exercise tool, and incorporates elements from all four of the Tai Chi forms into one whole form of movements.
Beginning, we both felt sort of silly, because we are perspiring and working our way through the forms, with a pair of information papers taped to wooden dowels to imitate the lover. It's very slow and you really feel the burn off. Breathing deeply, you're feeling it in your abdomen, and diaphragm, and by the end, your calves are only burning. It is an effective way to enhance flexibility and breath control. Dad was grimacing from a few of the more intense movements, since it made his poor shoulder hurt, but it was quickly slowed by us down seriously to keep that from happening again. All in all, it was a good thing to accomplish, and I will try to continue with it, although I might not need time with all my other fighting techinques obligations. I inform you, the largest hassle in my life is there are not enough hours in the afternoon to complete it, and each one of these great fighting techinques I can study!
