A Washington DC Trip - Visiting the Washington Monument
We walked in the Capital building to the Washington Monument. One detail that's maybe not mentioned much is that there cannot be considered a building of greater elevation than that Monument. There's a metal cap that covers it and showing to the cap are two words: Laus Deo. Many people to the monument are ignorant that what are also there unless they have read about it somewhere. I did perhaps not learn about it until this visit No-one can see the words, which have been there for all years, and are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high and are located on top of the monument facing skyward to the Father of our nation and overlooking the 69 square miles which make up the District of Columbia, money of the United States of America.Laus Deo - just two little words that do not seem quite significant, nevertheless they are significant enough to have been located at the highest point traveling over the most powerful city in the most productive nation in the world. Those two small words, translated from the Latin and comprising only four syllables and seven characters, basically suggest 'Praise be to God!'I have claustrophobia and it was difficult for me in the crowded elevator to the top of the wonderful monument, but the trip up was worth it when I looked out over a view of town. which is split into four major categories. It's a planned town and from the top of the monument we may quickly see the original plan of the developer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant, who designed it to form an ideal cross with the White House to the north. We had earlier in the day visited the Capitol to the east and later we would visit the Jefferson Memorial, which is to the south, and the Lincoln Memorial to the west. The development of this massive obelisk started in 1848 while James Polk was the President of the United States FlamingoMarinaResort. It was not until 1888 that the monument was finally inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to cover the memorial using its homage to the Father of our state, Laus Deo...Praise be to God'! The building can be a granite and marble structure. When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848, many goods were deposited inside it - one was the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. The control, ethical path of the president and first President of an unique democracy is demonstrated by one state under God.Why was the city built in the proper execution of a combination? What about separation of church and state? Separation of church and state never experienced the Constitution. A city organized in the design of a corner was undoubtedly designed to present a powerful meaning.Inside the monument are 898 measures and 50 landings. We walked all the way down to the street, as opposed to using the packed elevator again and every step was counted by me. Next morning the calves of my legs were very uncomfortable, but I would not need missed the walk down for something. Individuals who took the elevator missed plenty of the annals of the important monument. Each one of the 50 landings discuss a note. On the 12th landing there is a prayer offered by the city of Baltimore, on the 20th landing we found a memorial offered by some Chinese Christians and on the 24th landing there was a speech made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Lauss Deo... Praise Be to God!'George Washington was a praying person and he prayed for this country: 'Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the minds of the citizens to develop a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly love and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. and ultimately that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to remove us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind of the qualities of the Divine Composer of our blessed faith, and without a simple imitation of whose case in these things we can never hope to be described as a happy country. Give our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.l'There are several inscriptions present in public places around our nation's capitol and we can easily find the signature of God since it is unmistakably written everywhere you look. May very well not remember-all the statistics like the size and height of 'Laus Deo', where it is located or the title of the architects, but no-one will forget its meaning. These words tell the story::Unless the Lord watches over the town, the watchmen stand guard in vain.'
