A Washington DC Holiday - Visiting the Washington Monument

We stepped from the Capital building to the Washington Monument. One aspect that's perhaps not described much is that there cannot be considered a building of greater height than that Monument. There's an aluminum cap that tops it and showing on the cap are two words: Laus Deo. Many visitors to the monument are ignorant that the language are also there until they've read about it somewhere. It's a well planned city and from the top of the monument we might quickly see the original plan of the artist, Pierre Charles l'Enfant, who made it to form an ideal cross with the White House to the north.
