The oyster festival, one for the food enthusiasts among you happens in September. This event has proved vastly popular over time bringing many new faces and strange features to the city. The pride of the Galway oyster festival could be the Indigenous oysters called Ostrea Edulis. Im told the oysters drop particularly well with a couple of pints of Guinness. Maybe not becoming an oyster eater myself I'll have to simply take their word because of it.
Another treat for the artistically oriented group in Galway is the movie fleadh. This function offers local filmmakers a great opportunity to display their talents. The event also attracts many international filmmakers as well as their famous leading men and women. Before such luminaries as Jim Sheridan, Woody Harrelson, Sir Richard Attenborough and Michael Moore have attended the festival
