Sophisticated little beach hotels are a rarity in Mozambique, but the Matemo Island Resort which is found off the Northern Mozambique coast is defined to become one of the most popular African area vacations.

Getting there isnt hard, you fly in to Pemba, and then have a light plane to Matemo.

You really do feel you are off the beaten track here, particularly as that is a new resort, with absolutely beautiful beaches, and a spot to really do only cure an opera.

With regards to what its like, there are 24 rooms, on an island that's 8km long, and 3km wide, and though it doesnt have the complexity of the Maldives[yet], it does have the huge advantage that you can stay for weekly, and not walk round it easily!!

Matemo is one of many great romantic inexpensive honey moon ideas, its unspoilt, untouched, a haven with miles of beautiful white sand beaches.

In fact my first view of Matemo hotel was at the end of a fascinating drive through legitimate villages of mud huts, of people carrying on their lives as their ancestors had done for years, when suddenly we saw the sweeping arc of the entrance my eyes were drawn to a shaped beach with water the color which made the pictures seem regular. The colors never go away with Zanzibari morning beds piled high with brightly colored blankets, and although they had been experienced by me before on Zanzibar, somehow they seemed more brilliant here.

The 24 rentals are all on a beach with Persian Rugs and four poster beds, opening onto a private porch with its own hammock.Its the colors that take control, the blues, turquoises, white mud, its very nearly too much. In order to shower in the outdoor shower with this sort of a view is unsurpassable.

You can do it nearly from the beach if you want to fish, then you cant make a mistake, if you want to scuba dive or snorkel. If seafood is liked by you, then you are going to love the restaurant.

There are only two negatives, and the very first is that you're going to have to totally relax and rest as the pleasures of 21st century mainland hotels aren't for here, and subsequently at some point you are going to have to leave!!
