If annoying ants have discovered their way into your home and invaded your daily life, you are one of many. Based on research conducted by the National Pest Management Association, 25 per cent of homeowners say ants are their main pest problem. This same study revealed that more than half of all homeowners have had problems with ants-making them probably the most commonplace bug nationwide. In addition to being a general nuisance, these disturbing bugs can cause significant damage in your home by destroying wood and damaging the food.

Once they have occupied your home, bugs are one of many most challenging pests to manage. Tips are offered five by the National Pest Management Association to keep those uncomfortable ants from the house once and for all:

1. Oftentimes, your home is entered by ants looking for food. Ants can be kept by you out by keeping your home pristine and removing all accessible food sources. Always keep food, particularly desserts, in clear, airtight containers. Rinse out recyclable containers, get waste outside frequently and keep it in closed containers. Be sure to wipe down all countertops usually with water and soap, and tidy up any oil or spills immediately.

2. Prevent leaving dog food meals out for long periods of time. You can develop a moat to keep bugs far from your pet food by putting the dish inside another short, bigger dish with an inch of water in it.

3. Caulk and seal all cracks and crevices around your home's foundation that may provide access from the outside, especially those areas ultimately causing the kitchen where food is prepared. Lean any tree branches and shrubs that contact the outside of the house to avoid bugs from gaining use of the house.

4. Eradicate resources of moisture or standing water that could attract ants. It's important to get any plumbing leaks fixed immediately.

5. If bugs do find their way in to your house despite these measures and they prove too large a pest to deal with, often seek the aid of a licensed pest professional. A bug specialist will have a way to identify which species of ants are present and will help you control the issue. pest control
