It's my second year of taking Spanish at my high school, which means that I have the possibility to travel to Spain to experience the society of another nation. My parents however are definitely petrified that I will be flying without them along. I understand where they are coming from to a point however my mom and dad are taking it two steps too far by buying trip insurance and student travel insurance. I didn't even know that insurance companies offered such a thing but obviously they do. They also provide trip life insurance, world travel insurance, medical travel insurance, and travel accidental death insurance. How insane! I appreciate that my mom and dad look out for my welfare and desire me to be safe on the trip but honestly I'll be under the supervision of both Spanish teachers, the medical physician that's coming along, the school's superintendent, and 2 individuals that are on the school board.
The school only helped with my parent's paranoia about the trip by sending home information about kidnapping insurance for travel, flight insurance, and international travel insurance. The packet reviewed all the offered insurance choices for travel and it just made my parents feel the need to buy every kind of insurance offered. I think that it was intended to notify parents that there is insurance that could be bought for travel.
My parents were overjoyed to obtain this info because they realized that their insurance company offers myriad insurances for travel. Since they bought insurance for my trip they also purchased cruise travel insurance because my mom and dad are heading on a cruise that leaves from New York and ends in the Caribbean. My dad called around and got a few travel life insurance quotes to get the best bargain on all the trip insurance that they wanted for both my journey along with their anniversary cruise. My mother did some deeper research and found cheap travel insurance that was so affordable it was meaningless not to buy. Because of the competitive nature of my father he was let down that my mother discovered the cheapest insurance costs on everything from flight accident insurance to short term life insurance for travel.
Needless to state my whole family is covered in any unfavorable scenario that can happen while traveling. Looking back on it though I am happy that my mom and dad did their homework and got insurance for both of our trip plans to make sure that everything is taken care of so we can appreciate every experience without worry. I would hate for something to take place to my parents or myself for that reason, I'm grateful that my mom and dad bought us all insurance.
