If you are an American and was raised attending school in the Usa, you were taught the lesson of how Betsy Ross made together the initial American flag in 1776. But how many recall exactly what the stars, the stripes and the colors represent? Believe it or not, the hues red, white, and blue didnt have once the flag was adopted in 1777 any significance. The Continental Congress actually passed a resolution on July 4, 1776 which authorized a committee in the future up with a seal for the United States of America. That committee was instructed to make a style that resembled the Founding Fathers' beliefs of values and freedom for the newest Nation. It wasnt before the seal was finished and approved on June 20, 1782 that the symbols and national colors on the American flag had any defined meaning. The explanation for the banners design, taken from a book compiled by your House of Representatives throughout that time, is really as follows: * The Stripes White to denote purity and innocence Red to represent hardiness and valor * The Field Blue for perseverance, vigilance and justice * The Star - a symbol of the divine goal and the heavens to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun." In 1777, how many lines was congressionally required to stand at thirteen to represent the original thirteen colonies, however, types throughout America still varied considerably. A hero of the War of 1812 and Naval Officer called Samuel Chester Reid got together with Ny Congressman Peter H. Wendover in 1818 and caused a bill to establish uniformity for the design of the American flag. Samuel Reid was the one who actually suggested as new states were admitted to the Union that stars be added. That bill was passed on April 4, 1818. Over time, there has been twenty-seven versions of the hole. The current design dates to July 4, 1960, when Hawaii became america of Americas 50th state.
